Hivern a Mallorca

20,00

Majorca seems more authentic when the summer is over. The island transforms, it shows its intimacy. The cold days are not so cold thanks to the foguerons [bonfires], running away from the dimoni [demons] or the applause we use to show our appreciation for the dance of the cossiers. The Majorcan winter is tradition, myth, generous nature, a time of slaughter, a stage with an imposing sky that is clear and clean or covered with dramatic black clouds. It may rain, but the countryside is alive again, it is the time for harvesting olives, ploughing, tending to the trees, the birth of lambs, and the most authentic, delicious local gastronomy. Some mountain tops disappear in a blanket of snow. A puddle of water becomes brittle ice. The torrents are full. The sea isolates itself. This is the storyline of this book.
